Abstract :
The alternative schemes investigated are those of compensation by means of: individual, LV passive filters that are distributed through the plant and PWM-controlled, LV-connected power-electronic dynamic compensators. This paper deals with the technical and economic factors that are used in a practical evaluation in a large industrial plant. A steady-state harmonic penetration model has been developed on a Mathcad package. This package employs harmonic superposition through nodal bus-admittance matrix formulation. In addition to the calculation of all the necessary parameters, the model also furnishes time-domain waveforms of voltages. Actual measurements are used to calibrate the model
