Abstract :
Colour rendition in true-colour holograms is critically dependent on the choice of laser wavelengths used in the recording. It has traditionally been assumed by researchers in colour holography that the major goal in choosing suitable wavelengths for recording is that as great an area of the CIE chromaticity diagram as possible is covered. It is proposed that not only is this not necessary, but that there are good reasons for choosing a smaller triangle. The reasoning is based firstly on the gamut of surface colours, and secondly on the luminous efficiency of the wavelengths chosen
