  • Abstract
The authors have demonstrated that it is possible to produce blazed zone plates with high efficiency, good focal properties and unusual geometries and which are suitable for use in the 10 μm spectral region. The method of plotting the pattern of zones on a grey scale phototypesetter and photoreducing into resist proved to be simple and straightforward for the present application. its virtue is its simplicity and, assuming that one has access to a phototypesetter, its low cost. The present work has demonstrated that it is suitable for the production of zone plates to steer and focus CO2 laser beams
