Abstract
The Beira Alta Line is part of the main network of the Portuguese State Railway, and links Pampilhosa (on the line Lisbon-Porto) with the Spanish frontier. It was seen as inevitable that a basic renewal of this line would have to be undertaken, and to this end, the authors detail how a cost-benefit analysis for the electrification of the Beira Alta Line was carried out
