Abstract
Cluster-based routing protocol of wireless sensor network (WSN) is a hotspot in international research. Considering the limited energy and transmission range of sensor node in sensor networks, an energy-aware cluster routing (ECR) is proposed. Firstly the network covering is divided into some areas based on node location information, and then the cluster heads are rotated periodically if necessary according to the node´s residual energy. The energy load is evenly distributed among the sensors in the network and the lifetime of the network is prolonged.
