Abstract :
Voltage sags mitigation in distribution networks plays an important role in the improvement of power supply quality. Dynamic voltage restorers (DVR), when installed between the supply and a critical load feeder, can compensate for voltage sags within 2-3 milliseconds. This paper presents the technical considerations and design techniques of the first integrated gate commutated thyristor (IGCT) based DVR in a voltage sag mitigation application for a sensitive semiconductor manufacturing facility
