Abstract :
An experiment on a single-phase unidirectional transducer (SPUDT) for magnetostatic forward volume waves (MSFVW) utilizing internal reflections of floating metal electrodes within a microstrip transducer is described. The unidirectional action of the proposed transducer (MSW FEUDT) is based on the differences in centers of the transduction and the reflection of MSFVW, as is the case with SAW FEUDT. The MSW FEUDT has the advantages of easier fabrication and tunability with no external phase shifter. The reflection characteristics of the necessary reflecting strip array for MSW FEUDT design are experimentally shown. Using a transducer with three active strips and four reflecting strips on an epitaxial YIG film, 13 dB of directivity at 4 GHz was obtained. The performances of the reflector and the transducer are analyzed theoretically using an equivalent circuit model
