Abstract :
This is a description of the principles, architecture, and fundamental technologies behind a simulation-based Decision Support System for the purpose of harbour protection. The main system functions are written in Mathematica, a standard programming environment for mathematically intensive systems, which provides for a wealth of interfaces with the most commonly used DB systems, programming languages and user environments. Other required subsystems such as DBMS, GIS interface and user interfaces are not described.
