  • Abstract
As for low voltage customer system´s line form, circuit complex, various equipment are connected. Therefore, the verification of the lightning surge aspect by the experiment is difficult. Then, authors thought EMTP(Electro Magnetic Transients Program) was applied to the analysis of the overvoltage aspect of a low voltage distribution line. In addition, an effective lightning protection system was examined by using EMTP. As a result, the EMTP analytical result was corresponding to an experiment well. Moreover, the optimal placement of the SPD (Surge Protective Device) in a low voltage customer system is to arrange SA(surge absorber) in all the distribution line ends. However, considering the cost, the installation of SA only in the longest distribution line end, the protection effect of the entire indoor distribution line can be obtained.
