Abstract :
In this paper, ATP-EMTP programme has been used to study on the lightning protection for the UHV substations during start-up operation mode, the researched result were given when the first tower which was nearest the substation was adopted shape A and shape B. The influence of the top hamper on outage rate due to shielding failure rate, and the a proper top hamper structure was proposed.
