  • Abstract
This paper describes recent upgrades to the US Army Precision Navigation System (PNS). The PNS is an IBM compatible Personal Computer (PC) based test bed, used for evaluating advanced navigation components, systems, and technology. Recent upgrades include a real-time Global Positioning System (GPS) based navigation reference, a real-time system under test performance evaluation capability, high fidelity digital terrain models, and a video image capture and playback capability. A notebook computer version of PNS is also being developed as a test bed for soldier and vehicle land navigation applications, as well as a Kalman filter which estimates errors in digital terrain models
