Abstract :
The paper gives a short overview of mythology about lightning in ancient China. It introduces the interpretation of Chinese characters for thunder and flash, and people´s understanding of the horrible lightning phenomenon is also presented. Then the influence of lightning mythology on Chinese dragon culture and the evolution of the belief in the thunder God are discussed. In the last place, the connection between thunder God and the Taoism religion is introduced.
