Abstract
The authors describe the construction and performance of an alternator using YBaCuO high temperature superconductor for field excitation. The excitation winding consist of 15 turns of superconducting wire encapsulated in wax. Tests are carried out at a generator speed of 1500 rev/min to give a 3-phase 50 Hz output
