Abstract :
The author discusses the techniques of implementing vector control on a sinusoidal as well as on a trapezoidal back EMF AC permanent magnet machine. The vector diagram is used to clarify the operation of the former while the appropriate timing of the motor current with respect to the trapezoidal back EMF is emphasized in the latter. Results are presented to show the performance of both types of vector controlled PM motors
