Abstract
The performance of magnetic encoders is now comparable to optical types for many motion control applications. Magnetic recording techniques are used to establish high density tracks with uniform pole structures on isotropic permanent magnet media. The flux reversals are sensed using magneto-resistive elements, which allow quadrature incremental and index encoder channels to be derived from a single thick-film sensor
