Abstract :
The use of the new coding system, D2-MAC/packet for the direct broadcasting satellites in Europe has raised the question-among many others-of new, efficient and powerful test signals to be created for the testing of the new equipment based on this new coding system. Although a whole series of well established measuring and test signals are readily applicable for the D2-MAC/packet system too, due to the essentially time division approach of the system, certain equipment parameters definitely need the evaluation of dedicated test signals and measuring methods that can match the demand placed on hitherto irrelevant or non exiting parameters. A research group at the Budapest Technical University has given effort to both theoretical and practical aspects of these problems and this paper gives an overview of the work done so far
