Abstract :
Switching transients in power systems are always a matter of concern in studies of equipment insulation coordination. However, with the growing of the use of sensitive loads-from home digital clocks to automated industrial production lines-i.e., microprocessors in a wide range of electrical devices, these power system transients could become more and more a significant issue, regarding to power quality problems. This paper aims to present the main aspects of usual power system switching transients and the techniques used to mitigate them in order to improve power quality levels
