The authors performed an optical 1.2 Gb/s DPSK transmission experiment, which can transmit over 200 km single mode fibre, using a dual-balanced polarisation-diversity receiver. The automatic frequency control (AFC) method they propose provided stable, polarisation-insensitive operation
