A novel squaring circuit for high speed optical phase diversity homodyne detection is demonstrated with wide output bandwidth extending from DC to 8 GHz. Good squaring characteristics have been confirmed through electrical simulation of a 4 Gb/s 2-branch phase diversity receiver
