Abstract :
This paper focuses on anti-friction bearings used in large AC induction motors (NEMA 5000 & IEC 315 frames and larger). Topics such as bearing selection, application, life expectancy, lubrication practices, seals, bearing maintenance, and bearing features for use with adjustable speed motors will be explored. Rolling element bearings are frequently requested within the pulp and paper industry. Therefore, standards in antifriction bearing terminology and basic concepts are appropriate subject matter to understand.
