Abstract :
Lasing characteristics, reliability and transmission performance of a high power 1.5-μm InGaAsP DFB laser are reported. The validity of the highpower DFB laser for practical applications has been verified by the aging tests at 70°C, 15 mW output power and the transmission experiment at 680 Mb/s using 160-km 1.3-μm zero dispersion fiber
