Abstract
The present paper describes a morphology based technique to remove speckle noise. The commonly used technique of spatial averaging blurs the image. A morphology based technique used by some investigators tends to over smooth the images by removing significant amount of thin regions. The present technique preserves fine details of the image while reducing the speckle noise significantly. We have illustrated results on a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image
