Abstract :
Optical pulse generation at 4 Gb/s was achieved without chirping by using direct phase modulation of a DFB laser diode and an optical self-homodyne technique. The authors confirmed that 1.55 μm-wavelength signal pulses could be transmitted through a 102 km non-dispersion-shifted fiber without an increase in bit error rate
