Abstract
The development, architecture, and operation of a knowledge-based expert system which analyzes and interprets radar track data and determines the reason for loss of target track are described. Track and system data recorded in real time during operation of a phased-array radar system are analyzed offline (in a postmission phase) by this expert system. LOTT incorporates the knowledge and reasoning processes of the radar engineer analyst and is designed to act in either a stand-alone mode or as a decision aid to radar operations analysts. It is shown to be a successful and effective tool to aid the radar track analyst
