Abstract :
A pure silica core polarization maintaining fiber PMF was fabricated. A pure silica core-fluorine added cladding structure causes minimum transmission loss of 0.188 dB/km at 1.57 μm wavelength. It was also confirmed that the pure silica core PMF has high reliability under γ-ray irradiation and hydrogen atmosphere, which promises the application of this fiber to the fiber optic sensors under the extreme harsh environment
