Abstract
A Fabry-Perot open resonator is designed and constructed in order to measure the dielectric properties with low loss dielectric materials in the Ka-band (26-40 GHz) frequency band. A 3-D finite element electromagnetic code is used to simulate the TEM00q mode in the open resonator. Measurements are made by both the length variation method and frequency variation method. The measured permittivity and loss tangent of BeO (995) are 6.7 and 7e-4, respectively.
