Abstract :
In this paper, we introduce a MAC protocol for Multiple-Input Multiple-Output wireless networks that enhances the overall performance of a network with multiple antennas. It utilizes the channel efficiently and increases users´ throughputs. The protocol enables the spatial reuse of the channel by employing the infrastructure and ad-hoc modes concurrently. Two independent transmissions are allowed to occur simultaneously between stations using each mode. Direct connections between stations are also allowed without the interference of the access point. Furthermore, the protocol allows simultaneous transmission of data via multiple antennas between a station and the access point accompanied with frame aggregation. Simulations are performed to show the enhancements of our proposed protocol.
