Abstract :
A new automated approach is proposed for subdividing IR images into homogeneous regions and for approximating the probability density function underlying the random data in each region. The approach is illustrated with synthetic data. Both Gaussian and non-Gaussian portions of the image are readily approximated using the recently developed Ozturk algorithm
