Abstract
Introduces a technique that enables the identification of continuous time transfer function parameters. This has been achieved through the use of the delta operator. It has also been shown how this operator can be used to realise continuous time controllers. The techniques presented have the advantage, that as they operate in the continuous time domain, the coefficients relate to physical quantities. The delta operator has the additional advantage that, provided that the sampling interval is sufficiently short, the coefficients do not change significantly. This suggests that the delta technique could be useful in situations where the sampling rate may change
