Abstract :
It is shown that a multisine is a well suited excitation signal to measure and/or identify the frequency response function (non-parametric) and/or the transfer function (parametric) of a linear system. Its behaviour can be optimized to get a maximum accuracy by a proper selection of the amplitudes and phases of the harmonic components. In the paper some optimization strategies and their influence on the measurement and/or identification accuracy are discussed and illustrated by some examples
