  • Abstract
The nervous system is the major controlling, regulatory, and communicating system in vertebrate body. According to the method of structure, transmission and processing of biological nervous system, this paper presents the technique of biological inspired robot perceptual system based on networked sensor technology. Limitation of traditional robot perceptual system and the basis theory of biological perceptual system are discussed in the first and second section. In the third section of this paper, a standard biological inspired neuron module was presented, which can be acted as the basis node of robot perceptual systems. A set of designed neuron modules can be connected together by bio-mimetic structure to form robot nervous system, not only for sensing, but for controlling. In the forth section, some bio-mimetic techniques in software design used in this system have been discussed. The hardware and software has been designed for modeling, testing and employing sensor networks composing of many identical neuron modules. Overview and future work are given in the end
