Abstract :
The performance of a simulated receiver for the ADC (American Digital Cellular) system is presented. It is shown that the TIA requirements are fulfilled for all test cases involving the equalizer. The margin to the requirements is considerably increased by using diversity. It is shown that the performance is better when there is time dispersion on the radio channel. The reason for this is the diversity gain achieved by the equalizer. The smallest margin to the requirement is consequently found for the flat fading, or nearly flat fading, case. The TIA requirements also contain performance criteria for the output data from the channel decoder. The simulation environment described was used for determining these requirements. The complexity of the signal processing in the receiver, mainly the equalizer and the channel decoder, is low enough to be implemented in a hand portable
