The long wavelength channel detector for the ISOCAM camera

The European satellite ISO is a scientific satellite devoted to the observation of the Universe within the 2.5-200 micron wavelength range. Among the four scientific instruments of ISO´s focal plane, the ISOCAM camera is designed to provide 32×32 pictures in the 2.5-5.5 μm and 4-17 μm bands. The authors describe the ISOCAM camera and the long wavelength channel (LWC) detector and present experimental results obtained on the LWC detector around the liquid helium temperature (4.2 K).
