Abstract :
This paper describes a technique for measuring quasi-stationary AC power signals precisely, using asynchronous techniques and basing both measurements and frequency determination at a non-zero crossing level. Both theoretical and measurement results will be compared to IEC International Standards that are based on synchronous zero-crossing techniques. Various quasi-stationary wave forms will be analyzed to show how this technique provides better accuracy with lower uncertainties compared to conventional synchronous techniques. This paper and associated measurement results for quasi-stationary signals intend to contribute to the discussion of appropriate international standards for power measurements.
