Abstract :
The author looks at broadcasters´ network requirements and discusses the use of digital transmission and the influence of ATM (asynchronous transfer mode) adaptation on BISDN. In particular, problems of cell loss and timing transfer are discussed along with designing codecs for ATM transmissions. Transmission using synchronous digital hierarchy (SDH) and the integration of SDH networks with BISDN are also discussed
