  • Abstract
The HUSAT Research Institute is involved with several of the EC RACE projects. The paper discusses some of the results concerning IBC security from the CAR project. The CAR acronym stands for `CAD/CAM in the Automotive Industry in RACE´ and focuses on the identification of new opportunities made possible by the use of IBC in the domain of CAD/CAM applications as applied to the automotive industry in Europe. The aim of the project is to improve the effectiveness of the European automotive industry by accelerating design-to-production timescales through the concept of `simultaneous engineering´. By doing this it is intended to improve the quality and reduce the costs of the design process. In addition to high speed data communications, the project will also investigate the use of video/voice communications, as a means of strengthening human-to-human interactions in a high tech environment
