Abstract :
Level of detail (LOD) is the most efficiency method in terrain rendering at real-time frame rates. We introduce a real-time LOD method which divides the terrain in a set of nested regular grids centered about the viewer. This method used a geometry based algorithm to implement the dynamic delimitation of DEM data. It costs much less time, provides visual continuity, and obtains fast visualization and animation of large scale terrain
