Abstract :
The author outlines the general architecture and major solutions adopted for the MCPR (Multimedia Communication Processing and Representation) system which is being developed within a RACE project. An object oriented paradigm has been chosen for the design of the software components. He presents the services provided by the MCPR system, system block diagram of the terminal, multimedia object arrangement and the communication protocol structure. The envisaged configuration of some multimedia terminal adaptors is included
