Abstract :
Written-PoleTM technology is a method of changing the magnetic field in motors and generators while the machines are operating. The number of poles and their positions can be continuously varied. The written-pole motors starts across-the-line with very low starting current and can readily accelerate inertial loads 50 times greater than conventional motors can start. Written-pole motors operate at synchronous speed at unity power factor and with high efficiency. This paper discusses how written-pole technology works and provides details for various applications
