Abstract :
MATTRESS is a software environment for the study of digital system behaviour through simulation and the development of software or microcode for the simulated system. A description of the target system, at any level of abstraction from architectural level down to gate level, is used to derive a model of the system in the form of a directed graph, with which simulation proceeds using a demand-driven strategy to reduce unnecessary evaluation. The authors present an overview of the simulation generation process and describe the simulation method and the principal features of the user interface
