A mixed-mode circuit simulator

The design of mixed analogue and digital integrated circuits requires tools capable of handling not only the two types of circuits, but also the interfaces between the two types. The paper describes a prototype mixed-mode simulator. By integrating analogue and digital simulator algorithms, the interfaces between the two are accurately modelled, while maintaining the accuracy of the analogue simulator and the speed of the digital simulator. The simulator adopts this approach. The analogue and digital parts have been designed to work together, rather than taking existing simulators and attempting to modify them
