Abstract :
This paper reports on the details of the video and audio signal processing methods and system constitution of 1/2 inch cassette HDVTR, which has been developed satisfying the required specifications. The developed HDVTR employs a 20 MHz luminance signal and 7 MHz chrominance signal (line sequential), and four-channel digital audio recording system with a sampling frequency of 48 kHz and 16-bit linear quantization. The digital audio signals are recorded on the overlapped tape area to the video track by using the same heads employed for video recording. A laminated amorphous alloy head and metal particle tape are employed. The attained recording time is 63 minutes
