Abstract :
An intelligent traffic lights controller dealing with the dynamic traffic flow is presented in the paper. The vehicle delay at the intersection is reduced by using this method based on the fuzzy algorithm to distribute each roadway´s green time. The input of the fuzzy control algorithm is the vehicle flow on the current traffic lane and the difference between the length of the waiting traffic team on the next phase and the current vehicle flow; the output is the green delay time of the current phase or the minimum green time of the next phase. The anti-jamming capability of system is improved by the software design. Compared with the traditional fixed time method, the design scheme and lab experiment results show that the proposed method can not only reduce the delay time at the intersection, but also is valuable in practice.
