Electroacoustic characterisation of +64° and +41° Y-rotated LiNbO3 for wide bandwidth low loss filter design

Abstract :
Acoustic propagation on metallized surface high-coupling-coefficient 64° and 41° rotated Y-cut LiNbO3 was investigated experimentally and theoretically. A complete set of experimentally determined acoustic parameters in the 0.85-tp-1.6-GHz frequency range is presented. 11.6% and 21% coupling constant values have been deduced from transducer admittance measurement for 64° and 41° LiNbO3 respectively. These data have been applied to the design of 1-GHz image impedance connected low-loss filters. 7% and 10% 3-dB fractional bandwidth was obtained with 8- and 13-dB insertion loss on 64° and 41° LiNbO3, respectively
