Abstract :
Summary form only given. The international expansion of UHF TV networks with increasing transmitter power and energy cost saving demands leads to innovative high-efficiency power tube modification and design concepts; such as the multi-stage-depressed-collector (MSDC)-klystron. The MSDC-klystron generation is based on the Philips standard TV-klystrons, 4 generation devices with compact design. The collector section is equipped with a 5 stage-depressed collector system. The tremendous DC-power reduction of the MSDC-technique offers the advantage of optional air-cooling even for medium power TV-klystrons, as for example the Philips depressed-collector development type V186SK
