Abstract :
The authors outline the architecture of the present IBA network control and supervisory system, both from transmitter and regional operations centres (ROC) viewpoints. The conclusions of the recent IBA study are described in terms of improvements needed to the existing system and functions to be added to meet future demands. Comparison with the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) requirements of other industries are made and the criteria for selection of the new generation of equipment are discussed. Finally, the design as implemented by Logica is described
