Abstract :
Today there is still minimal use of CCD studio and outside broadcast cameras although this is certain to change just as fast as they can be made or one can afford them. The paper indicates current thoughts as much as practical experience. There has been a substantial increase in the use of CCD light-weight cameras in the BBC but this expansion has been in the area of electronic news gathering (ENG) and portable single camera use (PSC). PSC is the BBCs near equivalent of EFP (electronic field production), however the equipment is broadly similar to ENG and in both cases the emphasis is on obtaining reliable quality with a simple light-weight operation
