Abstract :
In this paper we investigate certain aspects of signal shaping in digital QAM systems. In particular, the spectral behaviour of such systems is investigated with reference to rectangular, sine-pulse, and T-pulse shapes. Partial response signalling is also applied to QAM systems. Consequently, spectral efficiency (bps/Hz) performance is considered, and the fractional out-of-band energy contents are computed. In addition error probability for transmission of such signals over typical linear and nonlinear Volterra channels is investigated
