Abstract :
A new numerical method based on the Chebyshev equation is applied to analyze the transient characteristics of a grounding system electrode under lightning current in this paper. The time-variable parameters caused by the soil ionization effect around the grounding conductor are considered. It shows this numerical method is an effective one and the ionization effect of the grounding conductor cannot be ignored. This result is validated by comparison with the results in literature.
