Abstract :
Describes the ELGAR (Environment Led Guidance and Restraint) project is designed to assess the impact on traveller behaviour of a number of measures to advise travellers of air quality in Bristol city centre and encourage use of an existing Park and Ride service. ELGAR combines the use of existing traffic control measures, e.g. UTC, and future measures, e.g. variable message signs and bus automatic vehicle location. ELGAR will connect these systems together and control the information flow between the systems for maximum effectiveness. Operating fully automatically, ELGAR will not require dedicated operators
